When you want to keep your home comfortable so that you are not dripping in sweat during the summer and not bundled up during the winter, you have to pay the price, and most of the time, a rather hefty one.
It’s no secret that heating and cooling your home can cause your bills to skyrocket as your units will take up a huge chunk of energy. More energy used equals more money spent. So, it only follows that what you must do to keep your energy costs at a minimum is to apply energy efficient cooling measures like:
- Replace your old central air conditioning with an Energy Star certified, high-efficiency model.
- Use heat pumps qualified for the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program which have a higher seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) than standard models.
- Ask your contractor about annual pre-season check-ups. Regular maintenance can go a long way in preventing costly heating and cooling issues.
