Norwegians Have Been Warned to Prepare for Rough Weather
The people in Norway have been warned to prepare themselves for another round of rough weather. Extreme precipitation will gradually become more frequent all over Norway, with local consequences such as floods and avalanches, explains senior researcher Hans Olav Hygen.
According to the Department Head of Climate Information at the Meteorological Institute, in order to face this problem, we need to do more research and combine relevant knowledge.
“I see signs now that make me more worried than I was ten years ago. We see tendencies that indicate that the climate is changing in a way that will have dramatic consequences.”

Extreme Weather Affects Schools
Chicago Public Schools made an announcement to the public regarding the cancelled classes on Monday for its 400,000 students as the city prepares for bitterly cold temperatures due to extreme weather. Parents may also call the District’s Administrative Offices concerning school classes.
According to the National Weather Service in Romeoville, wind chills are expected to get as low as minus 40 degrees below zero this week that will affect the entire area of Chicago.

Gravesham Council Struggling to Cope with Storm Damage

Once you’ve gotten to know your pet, you can then estimate the type of attention that they require.
Keep your pets warm during cold weathers with the following tips:
- Take an annual visit to the vet and have your pet go through a medical examination. This way, you’re able to check their physical condition and find out if they’re suffering from some health complication.
- During winter, it is important to keep your pets dry at all times. Be sure to wipe off the salt and snow from their paws and between their toes, and towel dry their fur.
- Animal clothes are becoming a fad among pet owners nowadays. You can use these to provide them with an extra layer of protection against the cold temperature especially when you’re outdoors. However, also consider your pets’ comfort when dressing them up.
- As much as possible, you want to minimize your pets’ exposure to the cold weather so allowing them to stay indoors at night or during the coldest periods of the day can be a practical move. If they have their own shelter, be sure to provide them with sufficient bedding to keep them comfortable and warm.
- To maintain their body temperature, animals need sufficient food intake. Make sure that they eat and drink healthy and never go hungry even for a day.
Help Animals Keep Warm During Winter
While animals typically have stronger adaptive skills, they lack most of the means to protect themselves from the cold weather – they don’t have houses, except the ones that their owners provide, and all they wear to keep their bodies warm are their furs or feathers. We’ve been continually told that we should be kind to animals, however, let’s not limit this generosity only to our pets but extend it to stray animals in our neighborhoods and other wildlife animals we meet on the roads.
Have the Summer You’ve Always Wanted
While there’s very little that we can do about the sun coming out everyday, there are countless things that we can do to keep ourselves safe and comfortable and have the summer that we’ve always wanted.
- Keep AC unit well-maintained and use a fan to improve air circulation.
- Opt for a healthy diet and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
- Avoid strenuous activities and spending extensive hours outdoors.

Extreme Weather Wasn’t So Extreme in 2013
With massive flooding and a super-typhoon, it seems that 2013 was a banner year for extreme weather – that’s how most people would feel. But, that’s not how some experts would see it.
According to a report, 2013 is actually not that extreme when it comes to extreme weather.
According to an article from science.time.com, “Except that wasn’t the case, at least not in 2013. The reinsurance company Munich Re came out with its annual assessment of natural disasters, and found that 2013 was an unusually quiet year.”
