Scientists warns the US that it better get used to extreme weather events such as Hurricane Sandy and the Texas drought. The warning was made by scientists who were attending the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

The scientists added that cases of extreme weather, like the severe drought that was experienced for a prolonged period in Texas and Superstorm Sandy are now part of the new norm. Such events should be expected to be higher in intensity and also more frequent, and it is all because of climate change that is driven by humans.

Researchers who were attending the meeting of the AAAS were one with President Barack Obama in saying that single extreme weather events does not necessarily mean a trend, although there are increased occurrences in recent and that several factors could be behind it. The President did make reference to Superstorm Sandy and similar events in his State of the Union address.
