A fateful incident happened last August 4, 2012 – when Rhonda Laughlin went shopping at the Wal-Mart located in Lumberton. According to her, the liquid on the floor was dripping from the store’s air conditioning unit and she claims she slipped in a puddle on the floor and fell.

She filed a suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for negligence in failing to keep the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failing to inspect the premises to discover latent defects, and for failing to give adequate warning of any dangers and she was also asking for an award of damages for medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish, interest and court costs.
